Moisturisers with only good stuff
It was sobering to watch the ABC Four Corners episode on the increase in “young cancers” and the wide and growing range of environmental suspects behind it – which as a group are now being called “the exposome”.
The exposome concept refers to the totality of exposures from a variety of external and internal sources including chemical agents, biological agents, or radiation, from conception onward, over a complete lifetime.

One area that has been of concern to my clients – and to me – for many years is skin care. Cosmetic companies have been putting new, “you beaut” materials into products like moisturisers for years – a practice that’s now being a bit more closely scrutinised as concerns about exposures grow.
I’ve been making moisturisers for sensitive-skinned clients (male as well as female) for years, and have two products that are particularly popular. They’re both clinic-made in small batches for freshness from a skin-friendly, natural base that’s soothing on sensitive and irritated skin.
Jen’s Skin Magik Moisuriser has selected essential oils so the cream soothes your mind as it soothes your skin.
Aussie Skin Magik is designed with aromas of the Australian bush. It’s great for post-gardening hands and ‘tradie’ skin as well as soothing irritated skin. Bush Flower essences are included to promote calm, strength and courage.
Both products are super-reasonably priced, to create an alternative to industrial products.
They’re made from a natural, soothing base of: Purified water, Sweet Almond oil, Cetearyl Alcohol (an emulsifier derived from sustainable palm oil production), Macadamia oil, Cetearth-20, Cocoa butter, glycerine (derived from plant or animal sources to keep skin hydrated), Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate (a safe synthetic or animal derived emulsifier), Rosemary leaf extract, Benzyl Alcohol and Dehydroacetic Acid (a safe synthetic preservative in very low concentration).
There’s a lot we can’t control in our world today – but one thing you can control about your exposome is what you put on your skin.
So if you want to keep your skin happy and healthy as you reduce your exposure to the unknowns – or just need a special gift for a special someone – then these might be of interest.
How much?
You don’t need to slather on gallons of my moisturiser/aftershave balm to soften and enhance your skin – so a “small” jar will last longer than you think.
Both Jen’s Skin Magik and Aussie Skin Magik are $25 for a 50gm jar (plus postage) from me direct or purchase at Go Natural Health Foods in Torquay, Hervey Bay, QLD.
