Plant whisperings in my life
Plants are amazing…
Their health-giving powers for both food and healing have been an ongoing source of fascination for me all my life.
Part of my work over the years has been sharing the benefits of the plants we live with every day – plants that have become so familiar that we don’t even see them – let alone understand their health benefits.
Most recently, this has been through my volunteer work with Indigenous Plants for Health. I joined the association in 2020, initially becoming a committee member then serving as President.
It’s been great fun learning from the wide range of plant-loving experts in the association – and organising activities that share our passion with the wider world. We do this in various ways, including: running workshops and Field Days; in regular email newsletters; through Knowledge Cards sales; and various other activities.

This builds on the plant-based activities I ran in Melbourne
I’ve learned heaps about the local Badtjala culture, the land, her plants and wildlife since I moved to the beautiful Fraser Coast near Hervey Bay – and still have more to learn.
I hope to share these learnings with those around me in future – once I’ve consolidated this new knowledge base – through Plant Whisper walks similar to those I conducted when I lived in Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges, such as:
